Red Ribbon Week | 10/24 – 10/31
Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign to encourage students against drugs and bullying. During the week, students will be dressing up daily and will be taking part in classroom activities related to the YOLO theme.

Bay Boosters Semester Meeting | Thursday, October 27th @ 5:30 p.m.
Each semester Bay Boosters will hold an evening meeting as opportunity for parents who cannot make the monthly morning meetings. This meeting will be quick and give an informative look of programs and fundraisers.
Our wonderful librarian, Ms. Heather O’Toole, will also be giving a presentation about the Accelerated Reader (AR) program during the Bay Boosters Semester Meeting. Come hear about this awesome program!
Room Parent Meeting | Thursday, October 27th @5:30
A short and informative Room Parent meeting will be held in the cafeteria during the Bay Booster Semester Meeting. Here we will review upcoming programs and events and also be available to answer any questions you may have about being a Room Parent and volunteer.
FUN RUN IS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28th!
FUN RUN takes places during the school day. Each student athlete will be given their new Bay Boosters/Bay Elementary t-shirt and will run laps in the field to raise money for Bay. For every 5 laps run offers an entry to win grade-level prizes like a gift card, BIKE or KINDLE FIRE!

The Veterans Day Celebration will be November 10th at 8:15 a.m. in the BES Gym. Veterans and guests may arrive at 7:45 a.m. Veterans and their guests are invited to stay for a reception on the tennis courts following the program when students return to class. Watch for more information coming home in backpacks soon!
Dinner with Santa
Dinner with Santa is December 8th from 4:30-7:30. Look for more information coming home in backpacks mid-November!
The Dinner with Santa committee is requesting old newspaper donations. Newspapers can be dropped off in the school lobby.
The next DWS committee meeting is November 2nd at 8:00 in the Bay Elementary school cafeteria. It’s not too late to get involved with this exciting fundraiser! Please email the event chairpersons Brooke Shattles and Renee Friesen at email@example.com with any questions!

Bay Elementary and Bay Boosters are excited to offer sponsorships for our 2016/17 school t-shirts to community businesses and school families.
Bay Boosters is a newly accredited 501(c)3 not-for-pro t and as a t- shirt sponsor, your tax-free contribution will be directly applied to Booster’s fundraising goals Boosting Classroom Technologies and Boosting Academics at Bay Elementary School. We are offering four levels of sponsorships as outlined in the document linked below for the 2016/17 school year.
In order to secure your level of sponsorship, we must receive ALL of the following at the time of your request:

Bay Elementary and Bay Boosters are wrapping up the school year with grade-level end of the year programs and grade level art auctions. Over the final days of school, each grade level will host their end of the year program and immediately following Bay Boosters will have an Art Auction.
The Art Auction includes individual self portraits with rocks and canvas collaborative art works. They are fantastic, so be sure to buy, bid and take them home! A special thanks to Mary Brandman, Liza Snyder and Jackie Ward for your hard work including EVERY Bay Elementary student in these projects.

Thank you so much to Stacy Murphy who coordinated (and counted!) the Box Tops for our school!“The Box Tops for Education fundraiser was a huge success! We started the Box Tops Contest in February with a goal of $750 to raise by the end of the school year. We have exceeded that goal and have earned $784 that will help enhance our technology for our students. Keep collecting those box tops over the summer. Each box top is worth 10 cents! Congratulations to Mrs. Martin’s third grade class who brought in the most box tops. They were rewarded with a Minute to Win It Party. And congratulations to our top three students who collected the most boxtops. 1st Place Winner: Noah Tucker (Quinn’s class), 2nd Place Winner: William Justiss (Romeo’s class), 3rd Place: Mackenzie Shattles (Roberts’s). They each will receive a special prize that will help get their summer off to a great start.

Here we are cruising into Spring Break and if you can believe it, our fundraising work and school programs are not winding down! There are many programs and events planned before school ends in May, so get out your calendars and let’s end this year with a BOOST!

We will be planning our final fundraisers: Spring Fling (4/24); a new fundraising opportunity, “Bay Eats!”; and our Art Auction. We will also discuss plans and ideas for Teacher Appreciation Week, Morning with Mom, Box Tops and our grade-level end of the year programs.
Box Tops for Education Deadline – April
Friday, March 25th
March 25th is the first deadline for classroom credit for Box Tops. Congratulations to the current First Place Class, Mrs. Martin (3rd Grade) and to the current First Place Student, Mackenzie Shattles!
“Bay Eats!” – Happening throughout the month of April!
This is a new fundraiser where Bay families and friends are invited to dine at select restaurants throughout the month of April and Bay Boosters will received a donation percentage of those profits. Hi Bay Boosters!
We hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving and holiday break. Now it’s time to change course to Christmas and set our sites on the North Pole and our favorite holiday fundraiser, Dinner with Santa!
A flier was sent home in home in backpacks just before the break outlining EVERYTHING that is going on during the event and all of the exciting changes happening this year. In case you missed it, the highlights are listed here and all of the details can be found in the attachment or by clicking here.
Dinner with Santa is Thursday, December 10th from 4 – 7 p.m. The event will host various activities throughout the school campus this year. Each activity is included in your ticket price, with the exception of the Silent Auction.
In the Cafeteria:
The cafeteria will be transformed into The Polar Express Station where students, their families, and guests can eat dinner and listen to each grade sing carols. Reservation Forms to purchase tickets for the evening will go out in backpacks Monday (11/30) and Tuesday (12/1) and are due back on Friday 12/4.
Student caroling will take place on the stage as guests dine. The student caroling schedule is below:
4 p.m. – Santa Arrives!
4:10 – Dinner Service Begins
4:30 – 4th Grade sings on stage
5:00 – 1st Grade sings on stage
5:30 – Kindergarten sings on stage
6:00 – 2nd Grade sings on stage

In the Gym:
The Gym will transform into the North Pole just as the actual Polar Express arrives! Santa will be there, ready in his sleigh, for a picture and a visit from every child. Our Silent Auction will be hosted in the gym as well. TheSilent Auction consists of Classroom Themed Baskets and also items for auction from local businesses and friends and families of the Bay Elementary.
The Classroom Themed Baskets are made from toys donated by you and other parents in your child’s classroom. The unwrapped items are arranged in a basket for bidding. These make great gifts! In the Breezeway:
Candy Cane Lane will lead you from The Polar Express Station to The North Pole. Hot chocolate will be provided by Amavida! This portion of the event is powered by donated sweet treats. Please have your creative confection on the stage by 12 p.m. on the event day, Dec. 10th. To volunteer, please contact Brett Nunn at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As you can see there are a number of opportunities to volunteer. We will have a sign-up site ready in just a few days, but for now, please email Lindsey Harp LRHarp1@gmail.com with your area of interest! Decorations, Food Service, Set-up, Silent Auction, Candy Cane Lane all need willing parents! If your high-schooler needs community service hours, we can help – Just email us!
If you have any decorations that you are not using this year, please let us! You can lend or give – just email Grace Scruggs, email@example.com or leave them on the stage.

SAMPLE EMAIL TO SEND TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY

This year I am running in my school’s FUN RUN to earn money for Bay Elementary. The money I raise goes to my school to buy us new technology and to make necessary improvements to our media center. There were big budget cuts that deeply affected our school, so the school needs our help more than ever. If you would like to help me, you can donate a flat dollar amount or a dollar amount for each lap I run. The average number of laps run is 20.
Pledge Example: If I run 20 laps, a $1 per lap pledge equals a $20 donation to be collected after the run.
There are a couple of ways you can contribute.
1. Respond to this email with the amount per lap you would like to contribute. You will get an email after the run telling you how many laps I ran. You can then send a check directly to the school at the address below.
2. You can send a check now for a flat dollar amount. Make the check payable to Bay Boosters and mail it directly to my school at 118 Gilmore Road, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459. Please include my name and “Fun Fun” in the check memo.
